I think we got rain today.
Jan. 25th, 2021 10:03 pmIt was suppose to rain in the early morning hours of today. Didn't hear anything but the porch was wet this morning so either a very heavy dew fall or we did get some rain. Checked my rain gauge today and it had somewhat over one tenth of an inch. I guess over the pass three days of rain we didn't get just a lot. Doesn't look like much of any kind of rain chance until into next month. Still looking at the day time highs in a little bit of disbelief. Thursday is suppose to be cool but not cold. And that is probably going to be the coldest day until on in to February. I actually felt hot again out in my shop. Didn't have to turn on the fan like I did yesterday. And tomorrow looks like more of the same. Getting in some decent shop time. Still there is a lot of winter left. January was really mild.
My outside temperature gauge says about 60°F with 60% humidity. Officially 64°F with 55% relative humidity. Seems to be somewhat warmer at the official temperature station.
Today was an eBay delivery day. I got one item in. Was a tool I needed as a spare. Says to be in my mail box but I haven't checked it yet. I will do that before going to bed. Now only have one outstanding item to be delivered from eBay. That one is coming out of China so might still be awhile. Still waiting on three orders from Rockler but one of them was shipped today so that one is on its way. And my MaxBright Aladdin lamp. Haven't heard anymore on that. No rush on it. Just one of those "I want" things.

Did just a bit of all three today. Housework, project work and wood working. Got a moderately early start in the shop today and starting building the top drawer support and got that mostly finished. Got the bottom drawer support just about ready to mount. Want to sand the back of the face frame before I install it. Then I can put the side panels on. Should start to look like something after that. Still my goal is to finish my entertainment center this week. At the pace I am going and the time it takes to do the work I probably won't make it but I'm not on any schedule. I think I have found something to do with all the small pieces of oak scrap. I have a tool I can use to make multisided boxes. Not just four but five and up. I tried it out today making five sided boxes and it works well. Making boxes with all the small pieces of scrap is better that just throwing them away. But I do generate even smaller pieces so those just can't be salvaged. Working out a way to make the bottoms and tops too. I think I know how to do it and a way to clamp the sides. At least in my head. Have to try it out so see if it will work.
For housework I put the dishes up and did just a bit of vacuuming in the hall. Got a lot of the wood chips I am tracking in to the house vacuumed up. Did just a bit of more work on cleaning up the remaining pieces of my 36 volt system. Don't know if that should count towards house work or project work.
Did only minimal project work. Put a battery pack on charge and looked at what I need to do to finish my change out of the the 36 volt system. Components for 36 volt systems are rare. They can be found but very limited selection. Probably going to add another 24 volt charge controller and another 24 volt inverter.
Twist was just a long term lap cat. Looks like he enjoyed it. Seemed to be dreaming.
Gold price is still about midrange in $1800 an ounce. Crude looks like it backed of its recent high just a bit more. Wondering when the declining 52 week high and the current price are going to collide.
For my viewing pleasure I just watched YouTube videos today.
There was suppose to be another test hop of the SpaceX Starship today but it was scrubbed. The next and probably last launch for the month of January is the 29th. Then we move into February.
Today is the 25th of January. Days. The full moon is just three days away on the 28th.
Sorted out the shop early this afternoon and got the car put up. Still have to go out and get the mail though. Will do that before going to bed.
I did the truck start, run and drive today. No bills paid today. Got Fozzy as acting lap cat now.
I have my Dietz lantern lit in my office. In the kitchen currently lit is one candle and the oil lamp night light.
The lawn company came today. Seems like about every two weeks. Mostly just picked up all the leaves from the tree. Did mow the front and back yard though.
Looking at the calendar I will probably get my W2 from SNCL this Saturday. Don't expect it to show much. I think I only put in a few hours in January and even fewer in February.
Got one of my five sided piece finished and glued together. Looks nice. Just a small piece. Want to make a jig so I can cut slots in the corners and reinforce them. Might have to try 6 and 7 sided objects. Just ordered something from eBay to fill the slots.
I think that is going to do it for tonight.
