Cold rain today.
Jan. 10th, 2021 10:04 pmJust checked my rain gauge and we got about 2 and 2 tenths of an inch of rain. Fell over most of the day but the rain has now moved out. Snow did get kind of close. It looks like parts north of the city did get snow. Say about 20 or so miles away. Close but just rain here. My outside temperature gauge shows it to be about 36°F. Official is 36°F. Seems they agree. And since it has been raining all day the humidity naturally shows to be 99 percent. Meaning it won't get much colder. Condensing water releases a lot of heat so that kind of naturally sets the low temperature. Next chance for rain looks like it might be over a week away so have to kind of just take that with caution at the moment because it is weather. Going to be cold the next couple of days so it looks like more indoor type projects, house cleaning, designing type of work. Going to be too cold to be out in the shop.
Did some house keeping today. Cleaned up the kitchen and ran the dishwasher. Did some vacuuming but not much. Was going to vacuum the dust bunnies in the kitchen but didn't.
No project work to day but thought of two new projects I might try to build. Just fun type project. Want to replace my hover board batteries in my solar center with my one kilowatt battery packs. Can wait until the panels aren't shaded any more. The battery packs can have a lot more charge and discharge cycles and will have 4 kilowatts of power available when fully installed. I don't think my hover board batteries have that much capacity.
Didn't get any wood working done today. Really didn't want to brave the cold in the shop although I probably could have. Just not that ambitious to do my wood working. Did dismantle a temporary door that I built to fix the bottom door jams. Never really used it so today I finally took it apart. I want to refinish the front door one of these days. Must wait until it warms up to do that. Really close on finishing my coffee table. Just realized I have in my attic the wood I need to finish the bottom of the cabinet. I was using it back when I installed a new water heater. Doubt I will be doing that again so I don't think I need it any more. Just have to get it down and for that I need to get both cats into the garage for a few minutes. Twist will climb the attic ladder for sure. Don't know if Fozzy will but not going to take a chance.
That was made to order. Both cats just went into the garage. So I went up to the attic and got the piece of plywood down. Kind of sketchy but I managed. Thought it was an accident waiting to happen. Down safely though. Probably the worst grade of plywood available. Wasn't expecting that. I think I can cut around all the defects and get a decent enough piece to finish the bottom of my blanket chest. Thinking I am one of these days going to cover it anyway. So, I will have enough to move my blanket chest at least one more step to being completely finished. At least with the bottom completed I can at least put stuff in it.
Rare to have an eBay day on Sunday but I did order something for probably a impractical project but I thought I might just play with it. Now have five items on order from eBay and awaiting their arrival. Didn't get anything delivered today. Cold and wet all day long. Not going to be wet tomorrow but cold enough to be another around the house day.
Gold is trading in the lower quarter of $1800 an ounce. Crude is now down about a dollar or so below its recent high. Still higher than it has been in quite a while
Probably going to start building an HEB delivery order again and add items as I think of them like maple syrup. Down to my last little bit. And as always my usual items like water and tea.
Fozzy made two attempts to be a lap cat today but for some reason aborted both of them.
Got lamps lit all of the house tonight. Got both Aladdins lit in the kitchen, three candles and the oil lamp night light. I have my standby lit in my office. Burning through the kerosene.
Nothing much outside of YouTube videos for viewing pleasure tonight. I did finally check and it isn't a free preview weekend.
I think I got two junk calls yesterday but didn't mention it. None today. Maybe I did get one. Hard to keep it all straight and remember when pretty much just ignored.

Didn't have to sort the shop tonight. Never moved the car out of the garage. So all set now.
Finally remembered to check the availability of platinum coins again. Price is up a good bit but lots seem to be available now. Good selection. Of course some of the rarer ones like past years aren't available and kind of understandably so but all recent ones seem to be available.
Got some more launch dates. Now 13th, 14th and 17th. More to watch including one I have never seen before. Virgin Orbit LauncherOne. Dropped from a modified 747. Want to see that.
I think that is going to do it for tonight.
