Checked outside today to spend just a few minutes in my tent and it looks like there was frost on the grass. Didn't get cold enough to freeze but frost can form if there is a clear night sky to lose radiant energy. Didn't really get close enough to check but it did look like frost. First time I have seen it this season. Much warmer tonight. My outside temperature gauge shows it to be about 51°F. Officially it is 54°F outside. Next chance of rain is this Wednesday. No rain today and none was forecast. Looks like for the next few days temperatures are going to be nice before becoming more like winter here but still not that cold. Nothing that looks even close to a hard freeze.
Did spend some time out in my tent today. I do need my tent time. It does help me to stay sane. Finally got about 4 blankets and finally feeling almost warm out there. Well, one blanket is technically a rug but it does make a good blanket. About the same size as a blanket. Still on the porch kind of thin to the pavement. I know those foam pads used to ship my solar panels would have worked well but I have long since disposed of them.
Kind of rare for a Sunday to be an eBay day in the first place and today was no exception. I have in the past but didn't get anything today. Didn't order anything either. Still have quite a list of things yet to be delivered. Got most of the shop sorted but still have to put up my work station so I can get the car put up.
Did some wood working today. Got another piece of one leg installed and finished sanding the other leg. Started to fit the skirt boards on the table. I would love to use the lock joint on the skirt boards but the bit vibrates so badly I am afraid it will damage my router. So I am just going to use 45° miter joints. Not quite as amazing as the lock joint but with the bit probably safer and much less complicated to make and align. Did cut the final pieces for the second leg. One of the skirt boards needs to be planned down a bit to match the others. Just about used up the plank of oak completely. I have two planks left. I know one is oak but I am not sure about the other. I still have my stash of 4 foot long oak boards but they seemed to have been used up quickly. I have several places I can order mass quantities of oak on line so nothing really to worry about. Long time ago I found a place that sold rough cut wood and I made several purchases there. Don't know if he is still there or not. I think much easier now just to get smoothed planned and one finished edge to work with now anyway.
I think I am going to make the effort to put the dishes in the dishwasher and run it tonight. Just about out of everything and shouldn't take that long to put the rest of the dishes in the dishwasher.
Think I will pause here and finish my straightening in the shop and get the car put up. Didn't take long to finish in the shop and get the car put up. Didn't go on a drive tonight. So don't know where gas prices are. Gold moving pretty solidly above $1900 an ounce. Crude is holding its high but still below its recent high.
Did something kind of project related tonight but not completely. Got really tired of not having enough plugs in my shop and constantly having to move the one heavy duty extension cord that I do have. I don't know why I didn't think of this soon but I took one of my switched outlet extension cords and made it into a four outlet extension cord. Now in my shop. That should help with running out of plugs. Can't run anything heavy on it like my table saw or routers but everything else should do find on it. I can add heavier cord later. Still don't know why it took me until now to think of that. Should make my shop a little bit more convenient. May not really be project related.
Didn't really do any project related work today. Still working on my coffee table. Still intend to run the dishwasher before I go to bed. So I can claim that as house work. Just did a little. Put away the Glasses. Still have plates and silverware to put up. But should finish before going to bed. Finally got all but my colander and one stainless steel mixing bowl in the dishwasher and turned it on. So did some housework. I think this counts as housework but got just about all of my papers sorted for last year. I still have a stack of mostly just one of a kind items to file or make folders for. Got to start one for 2020 taxes. Have a few things already that need to go in that. Mostly now I don't have enough to get about the standard deductions. Things like property tax even combining two years don't get me there. And really just my day trading and social security for last year. Did have just a little employment but it really wasn't much. Just probably less than 30 hours if that much. Won't get my W2 from SNCL until the end of the month.
My social security increased this year and so did my part B premium. I am supposed to get paid on the 13th this month. I got something in the mail that said exactly what it would be but I don't remember.
Finished my episode of The Curse of Oak Island today and watched just a bit of NOVA but decided I had already seen it. Outside of that just the usual YouTube videos.
Probably going out in the tent tonight to just a bit of deep listening. Won't stay long. Still too cold out to spend much time there.
Today is the 3rd of January. Days.
Going to work on the other leg tomorrow and hopefully finish it. That is what my head says I can do. Maybe get a skirt board on or two. Not sure if I will make it or not. I don't plan on starting my desk project until this one is completely finished. Kind of overlapped blanket chest and my table and don't want to do that. I want to just concentrate on a single project.
Both Fozzy and Twist made Lap cat status. Twist is usual in my lap and then to sleep. Fozzy wants some attention before he will fall asleep.
