Decent rain today.
Dec. 30th, 2020 10:51 pmWe did get a decent rain today. Just checked my rain gauge and it showed almost 1 and 2 tenths of an inch of rain. Not bad at all. Suppose to be more rain some time after midnight. Doesn't look like we are going to get any more today. Also looks like it could rain most of the day tomorrow. Looks like tomorrow is going to be moderate but turning cold on Friday and Saturday before warming up again on Monday. Pretty much staying that way for the rest of the forecast. Everything looks pretty moderate. Not too cold at all. Tomorrow though does have a 100% chance of rain but it looks like it is going to end before night fall so it looks like people are going to have not quite a dry New Years Eve but at least no rain so the fireworks should be going off like crazy. Although I seem to remember that the 4th of July was a bit more subdued than previous years. So maybe New Years will be too.
Got the shop pretty much already sorted tonight. Just have to put up my work station and then the car. I think I am going to mail a letter tonight though. Finally decided to pay my property tax and get that out of the way so one less item to worry about. My biggest bill. Actually pretty much finished as much as I can on the blanket chest. Still have to put the final finish on the skirt boards but I did get them stained. Should take 3 or 4 days to do the actual finally finish because I am only going to do one side at a time. Then it will be moved into the main bedroom until I can get the material I need to actually finish it. Still going to count it as finish and sign off as soon as I am done with the finish coats. Not really finished but I did my Facebook post on it tonight.
Did some more work on my coffee table legs today. Only have one more piece to install on one. Thought I would finish it today but again my head said I could do more than I actually got done. On the other hand I did pour five soy wax candles today recycling some soy candles that I put too much scent in and they wouldn't burn very well. At least I think that was the problem. We will see how these new candles do.
No eBay day today. Really didn't think I would get anything as none of the tracking looked promising. Haven't checked the mail yet so maybe I did get something in. Will check when I go to put up the car. Don't know about tomorrow. Still really nothing shows on tracking.
For housework today I cleaned the kitchen and added my used dishes and silverware to the dishwasher. Haven't run it yet. Did some vacuuming. Needed a clean space to work on my blanket chest. Going to put out a load of paper and card board for recycle this Friday. Not near enough plastic for a load yet. Not enough to put my trash bin out either.
No real project work. Since Friday and Saturday are going to be cold might do some more project work then.
No tent tonight or lap cat. I thought Fozzy might make it but just slept on the desk. I may put the tent back up tomorrow after the rain moves out just to listen to the fireworks outside.
Just the usual viewing pleasures tonight, more episodes of the Flash and YouTube Videos. Also watched just a bit of The Curse of Oak Island.
Gold is trading close to $1900 an ounce. Crude is again approaching its recent high. Gas prices are up. Will check again tonight when I go out to mail my property tax.
Don't think I am going to do my sparkler fireworks show. I might light a few sparklers though. I have so many of them. Been using bunches of them but still have a lot left.
Got my night light oil lamp lit along with two candles. Don't have my stand-by oil lamp lit. My recent order of Kerosene is on its way. Cheaper to order a five gallon can so I will do that next time. Don't know why kerosene is so expensive. Might be because it is the K-1 grade, Use to be kerosene had a lot of Sulphur and I don't know what else but it smelled really bad when it was burned. I wonder how much RP-1 kerosene cost. Might just order the five gallon can too. Doesn't seem to go bad like gasoline but just used in oil lamps so not much stress on it.
Rain still hasn't started. Seems to be content to stay to the west of us and train there. Might not start until early in the morning. Going to finish sorting out the shop, mail a letter and put the car up.
Full moon last night but cloudy.
I think that is going to do it for tonight.
