Partly cloudy today and no rain.
Jul. 30th, 2020 11:21 pmWas a dry day here today in terms of rain. Of course the humidity is ever present and doesn't really make for a dry day but I am just counting rain fall. Looks like some areas much further north are getting rain but I think a cold front which is kind of rare for this time of year is moving through there. I don't think it is forecast to move this far south though. We are supposed to have high pressure build in soon which is going to dry this area out for a while. We still have a decent chance of rain on Saturday but that looks like it is going to be it for a while. However the temperatures do look to moderate a bit even into August.
Tomorrow is the last day of July. Potential tropical storm 9 is now tropical storm Isaias. The path after being forecast to shift further to the west has now moved back east and once again looks like it is going to skirt the coast of the US and might miss Florida all together. The National Hurricane Center forecast it is going to make hurricane strength sometime on Saturday. Although the majority of the Spaghetti models showing that it stays a tropical storm. There are several that do show it will make hurricane status though. And disturbance 1 has rolled of the coast of Africa. Has been an active season.
Looks like we are solidly under a Saharan dust cloud. And two more huge clouds are behind this one. Looks like a lot more days of dust cover for us. But suppose to moderate hurricanes.
I have an HEB delivery scheduled for tomorrow and also tomorrow is Cheese Sandwich Day. Have to stay up late tonight to see if we are going to get a premium channel free preview.
I didn't get up in time to watch the launch of the Atlas rocket carrying a mission to Mars but I did watch a replay of it. Amazing launch. Also after trying to watch a static test of the Star Liner engines live I missed it too but did watch the replay of that too. Very short test. Probably only a few seconds but still fun to watch. Also an Ariane 5 rocket is scheduled to go tomorrow. It also looks like August is going to be a very busy month for launches.
Went out to mail a letter tonight and it looks like all the gas prices that I check haven't moved. Still the same for the past several days. Crude oil is actually down a bit. About a dollar or so. Still watching gold and it is still high but hasn't reached $2000 an ounce yet.
Actually seems fairly quiet outside tonight. I don't hear the same chirping that I have heard the last several nights. Not sure about the crickets though. Don't really want to open the front door to listen as I am guessing there is a ton of mosquitoes outside just waiting for me to do that. With all the rain we have gotten lately they just have to be out there.
Checked the yard today for mushrooms but haven't seen any sign of them at all. I usually see some after this much rain but no sign of them yet.
And today was not an incense day but Twist did visit my lap and looked like he was going to make it long term but I had to get up.
Got another political phone servery today. National and Texas mostly. Don't mind taking them. Seem to get one at least every other day.
Long text exchange with Gary. Weather and electric cars. His car does so many more cool things than mine does. I like the remote back up feature. Don't know if my car could do that with a software update or not.
Started a load of whites today.
Not much in the way of viewing pleasure tonight. Did watch some of a PBS program. No Star Trek though. Thursday nights were always a challenge.
No project work today but did get the wire in that I needed so today was an eBay day. The shipping company was so fast. I think the wire gauge is enough to work. Going to be a lot of wiring as the light sequencer will start with 8 channels and may expand to 16. I am considering just to make it 8 and then let it be the master controller and allow another 8 channels on a satellite controller. I could spread out the lights better that way.
I think that is going to do it for tonight.
