Waiting for the rain to start.
Jun. 23rd, 2020 10:22 pmWatching the radar and seeing the rain coming but it never seems to make it. Just seems to dissipate just before it gets here. I see more on the way based on the radar returns but don't know if it will do the same thing. The Weather Channel says the rain is going to start at least based on the rain chance percentages between 11:00 and 12:00. And then again according to the rain chance it is going to rain all night. This area is under a flash flood watch until 7:00 am tomorrow. The watch says some areas may get 6 to 8 inches of rain. That should do it as parts of Houston flood from a heavy dew. It says heavy thunderstorm so it might be a thunder filled night.
My two cats don't seem to be as afraid of the lightening as my last wonderful cats. She had her hiding places during thunderstorms and would always hide. I do miss her.
And today's lap cat participant was Twist. He just climbed right in a took a nap. No petting, just settle in for a nap. Don't think I had an incense burning today. I know I thought about it several times but it just seemed to never get done.
Nothing from Gary today as far as text. That happens from time to time. He gets busy with other stuff.
I did a little bit on a project today. I set up a screen for my projector. Just playing around with it so I can get the largest screen possible. I repurposed some wood from another project. Worked out well and no cutting involved. Just really too hot in the shop to break out the power tools.
Nothing from eBay today. Does happen on occasion. Still just amazed at the items I can find on eBay. Just about everything I have searched for I have found. Might take a bit of looking but it always seems to be there.
Haven't really talked about crude or gold price in awhile. Today crude was back up to $40.43 a barrel. I think I saw a gas price of $1.79 but today I saw it was $1.75 so maybe I was just seeing things. Don't know. Crude price has been down for so long. I wonder what that would translate back into say about 1970 price. I could probably find a chart or table that would make that easy but really don't want to look for it.
Still watching live cams from Galveston.
I think gold is as high as it has ever been. Wondering if it actually might make it to $1800. Really close now.
Still high bidder on my item from the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Just under less than a day to go. Don't know if I will win or not. The Museum is really good about letting you know if you have been out bid. No message tonight from them so I guess I am still the high bid. Some very nice items. I like my choice. Of course it is going to be a gift for someone.
Just a radar check and it looks like something in the form of light rain did pass over. Didn't hear anything though. Some times the radar picks up rain that doesn't reach the ground and it looks like it was very light. Does show more rain on the way. Got to keep watching. Not too far away. Might actually notice this.
And in the Atlantic the depression or disturbed weather, I forget, is now tropical Storm Dolly, the fourth of the season. I'm thinking the big dust cloud is suppose to get here tomorrow or some such. Maybe the rain will keep it in check. Anyway it is suppose to diminish storm formation.
I did mention that the Falcon 9 launch was postponed until June 25th. Going to be loaded with Star Link stuff. Trying my best to remember. And now they have set a time of 4:39 pm EDT so that is going to make it 3:39 pm our time. Good time to launch a rocket.
My lawn service came today. Usually come on a Monday but I guess they got rained out. Don't think I am going to have enough to put out a recycle bin this Friday.
Looks like that bit of rain missed us. Don't really see much behind it and now the Weather Channel is saying the rain won't start until around 1:00 am. Suppose to be some rain tonight.
I think that is going to do it.
