Rain early
May. 26th, 2020 09:46 pmWe got rain early today but the rest of the day was dry. Evidently the low parked over Dallas that was bringing us all this rain is breaking earlier than expected. The next decent chance of rain is this Thursday. A respectable chance tomorrow so let see if it rains.
Tomorrow is the launch of the Falcon 9 Rocket with two astronauts on board. This will be the US returned to the manned space flight. Been about a decade since that happened. Since the space shuttle program shut down. The launch is scheduled for about 3:33 our time. Now if I can just remember to watch. Been looking forward to seeing this launch for some time.
Finished my universal joint and tested it today. Seems to work fine and I don't need it to move very fast or take a lot of load. It is just going to be part of a steering linkage. This is just built out of cardboard. wooden dowel and scarp luan. Just for a test. Have to make the real one a lot more substantial. This test one does show some areas that I need to be cognizant of to make one that works well.
Got a letter from the IRS telling me that I had received my stimulus payment. Thought it kind of odd that it would come now. Got that payment in early May.
Did a bit more vacuuming today. Can't get the bags for my vacuum anywhere locally. I have to find them on eBay and order them. My machine is getting kind of old but works fine. Going to do some more tomorrow.
Finally got some mail today. Haven't received any for the last several days excluding Sunday and the holiday.
Netflix said they had received Frozen II and would be sending me my next movie selection. Still need to tune and watch some more CBS all Access.
Put away laundry. Some of it. Still have some more to do.
My HEB delivery is scheduled for Thursday. I think I am going to like this more than curbside although there is a delivery fee but it is really minimal especially when considering the convenience. And now next day delivery is possible so I don't have to plan so far a head but still nice to place as much in one order as possible.
I now have a 12 volt buss available on my central Solar power station. I decided instead of expand my 24 volt buss I would just plug in a 24 volt transformer into one of my 42 volt inverters. Not as efficient as taking power off of another 24 volt buss but the battery bank for that inverter isn't being use at the moment.
Still watching The Last Kingdom and it had a rather unexpected plot twist. Outside of the not much on Tuesday for viewing pleasure. Looks like PBS ran part of their Downton Abby marathon today. I do seem to get a lot of Nova reruns which are generally worth watching again.
Still amusing myself with videos on YouTube. Very much a saving grace of entertainment.
Checked into work today. Looks like everyone is back at it from home. Texted some with Gary on Google Hang Outs. Talked about weather and work. Nothing really in the way or organizational emails from the department chairman. I pretty much check in at least twice a day.
I think that should do it for tonight.
