Wasn't in the forecast for today but we did get something approaching maybe a little more than a trace of rain. Twice this afternoon I felt it trying to start to rain but only got maybe a few drops but it was rain nonetheless. Was a bit on the cool side today and just a little windy too. Cloudy all day and a bit dreary. Nothing looking too much like rain in the forecast but like today you just really never know. Looks like tomorrow is going to mark the end of highs in the 70's. Don't see anything else in the forecast but highs in the 80's and next week probably means the return of air conditioning. So got to be ready for my power bill to go up as the gas bill goes down.
Fozzy is in my lap. Probably starting from the first moment that I set down. He really is a sweet cat.
I do expect to be really sore tomorrow. I replaced my mailbox post today. The old post had pretty much rotted off below ground. It came out with no trouble at all because the post was mostly gone. Don't think it would have lasted just a lot longer before it completely fell over. It was that rotted. I thought I could just dig out the old hole but they had set it in concrete and there was no getting through that. I tried for a while but was making no progress at all. So, I just moved the hole one location to the east. Immediately hit a big tree root and some concrete. Thought this hole might be bad too. But I cut through the root and got the concrete out of the way. Just some overflow from the old post. After that is was just digging through the clay. Didn't really take long to get to the depth that I needed. Installed the post, levelled it and packed it back with the clay. Didn't want to set it in concrete. That really causes post to rot faster because it holds water against them. Don't think I have used my arms for so much work in years. Using those post hole diggers is a lot of work. Going to be sore. After that it was really just six screws and my mailbox was done. Worst part by far was just digging the hole. Done now and maybe with any luck I will get another 25 years out of this one before I have to replace it again. Now I have a pair of post hole digger to loan out and not get returned. Not sure if I will have more work for them.
I also ran my fish tape down to the box I cut in the kitchen wall and got it connected to the pull cord. Haven't done that yet. Was doing some checking as to way AT&T couldn't run fiber up to my cat 6 cable and go from there into the house. That is already in place. Or use the twisted pair that is already installed. Would have been easier but the new modems that they are using have a fibre optic port so fibre optic cable has to be run all the way to the modem. So that is what I will do. A lot more trouble but I think I can do it. Just have to do a little more attic work but nothing I haven't done before.
Today was an eBay day. Got two items in. I got my postage stamps from the post office and I got resupplied on fortune cookies. Didn't order anything today. Still have four items outstanding on eBay. Looking at tracking I might get two of them in on Monday. Still have a cart at Home depot that I haven't released yet.
For housework I put the dishes in the dishwasher, ran it and cleaned up the kitchen. Did a good bit of vacuuming too. Not much else though.
Didn't really do any project work. Did put one of my light towers on charge.
For woodworking I cut out a place to mount my small screen for my raspberry pi. Going to use that screen for my FM radio so I won't take up the big monitor. Not much else to report in terms of project work. The mailbox post replacement was my big work item for today.
Probably do some more work on my dust frames tomorrow. Kind of slow going on those.
Didn't watch anything but YouTube videos for my viewing pleasure.
Don't think I got any junk calls, Well, maybe one. Kind of hard to remember.
Both Twist and Fozzy made it to lap cat status yesterday.
No gold and crude report tonight. Just for this once.
Listened a little to Ashley's new podcast. Didn't know she had a new one out.
Got the shop sorted and the car put up. Went out for a short drive. Doesn't look like gas prices have changed.
I think that is going to do it for tonight.
