No rain expected today.
Apr. 1st, 2021 10:03 pmWell, no rain was forecast or expected today and staying in line with that we didn't get any rain. An almost too perfect day. Was a bit chilly this morning with a little wind. Had to put on my felt jacket. I thought I was pretty much done with that but it felt good this morning. Don't really see anything that looks like much chance of rain in the forecast. Going to get a bit on the cool side tonight. And cooler for the next four or so days. After that looks like the 80's are going to rule. Right now my outside temperature gauge says it is 54°F with 38% humidity. Another dry night. Officially it is 59°F with 41% humidity. And today is the first day of April. Started on a really nice note. Bright and sunny all day. Going to be close to this for the next four days.
Finally took my truck in today to get it inspected. I had an appointment at 9:30 am this morning but woke up early and couldn't stay in bed and wait so I got up and got ready and went in early. The same guy that helped me with my Bolt helped me with my truck. And he remembered me. Gave my insurance and walked up to the front showroom to get a cup of coffee. It is a good distance away from the service department. Got my coffee and sit down and finished about two thirds of my coffee when they called to say my truck was ready and it had passed inspection. Just unbelievably fast! So I walked up and paid and got my truck. I guess the check engine light may have been due to my gas cap but it stayed off long enough for me to pass inspection whatever the cause really was. Only have to April 14th before they start issuing citations again for expired registration. My Z isn't running so I am not worried about that one. Plus I have nine months after it expires to get it inspected. There is a two day hold on payment before they will send a receipt saying the registration is paid. Don't really understand that when they accept a credit card for payment. For a check, yes. I did it again and thought I had lost my debit card and credit card today. I don't remember taking my credit card out of my wallet and putting it in my top pocket but I did. I also put my debit card back into the wrong slot in my bill fold and thought I had lost it too. Getting tired of doing that. Just scares me to death. But all is good. The truck is inspected. I will just stick to the start, run and drive around the neighborhood until I get my sticker and then I can start taking it out of the neighborhood. And have maybe a little more variety of drive. Glad that is done. Just another source of anxiety that I don't need.
No house work done today. Didn't do any vacuuming or anything. Might do some tomorrow.
Tonight is Thursday night which means I need to check after midnight to see it if it is going to be a premium channel free preview weekend. Last weekend was but really didn't watch much of it.
Tomorrow is cheese sandwich day. Trying to stick with the tradition. A little bit more than nostalgic and something I miss sharing.
For project work today I realized that I had one of my 12 volt cooling fans connected to 24 volts. I thought I could smell something that was a little hotter than it should be. So today I used a DC to DC step down buck converted to install a 12 volt buss in my solar center. Now the fan is connected to the 12 volt buss and I can no longer smell it. Something I needed there anyway.
Got my Aladdin lit in my office to provide just a bit more heat back here. Probably have to make candles tomorrow. Right now I only have my oil lamp night light lit in the kitchen.
Today was charge day. The day I charge all of my lifepo4 batteries that power my fireflies. Got three of them charged. Try to do that on the first of every month. They can take up to a thousand cycles so they should last a while.
For woodworking I started on the dust frames. Worked out the dimensions and cut enough wood for about 1 and half dust frames. Quit after one hour as I try to promise only one hour a day in the wood shop. Tomorrow more cutting and I will start to assemble the dust frames. Might have just enough poplar to finish those.
Was quite an eBay day. Got four things in and ordered me another little toy and it is really a toy. Today I got in my fish oil, my volt gauges, my power jacks and my brass polish. And after all that I still have 5 more items waiting to be delivered.
The Houston Museum of Natural Science is having another auction. Ends tonight and I didn't notice it until tonight. Didn't really find anything I wanted to bid on. Closes at midnight.
Viewing pleasure today was more The Curse of Oak Island and YouTube videos.
Checking in with gold and crude. Gold made a decent move and now back in $1700 an ounce territory. Crude also made a good move up. Still staying below its 52 week high but a bit closer now. But as slow as it is moving up it might be awhile before it sets a new 52 week high.
No change or additions to the launch schedule. Still the 7th for the next Falcon 9 Launch. Didn't list the last Electron launch. Got to check that one. They also make it look so easy. Just like SpaceX. Smaller but just as exciting to watch launch.
Got the shop all sorted earlier. Had a good bit of stuff out. Got the car already put up and on charge. Not low but still time to put it on charge. Probably will charge all night and on into tomorrow before it reaches its 90% charge level.
Seriously considering getting the Bolt EUV as my next car. Just a little bit bigger than my Bolt but my Bolt really is a small car so don't think it will make just a lot of difference. My Z is much longer. Don't really know when I can actually see one though. Don't want the sun roof. Decided to go all out and get the supercruise just incase I ever have an opportunity to use it. Looking now I could almost supercruise all the way to my relatives house. I see one section I would have to drive but it gets really close. Would be an interesting experience to let the car drive itself.
Fozzy just decided to be a lap cat. He is welcome.

Fozzy is totally asleep. Going to let him sleep a little while longer before going to bed myself. Not yet midnight anyway.
Got two junk calls today. One on my cell phone.
Paid an email bill today. My water bill. Don't know when I am going to get paid. Just have to watch for it. Don't have much in the way of paper bills anymore. The lawn company is about the last one.
I think that is going to do it for tonight.
