Rain! Good one too.
Aug. 22nd, 2020 10:03 pmFinally did get some rain today and I think it has been two weeks since we got more than just a few drops. It was just an afternoon thundershower and I watched it develop on radar but didn't think it would develop enough to cover us. It was similar to the one that developed yesterday but stayed pretty much to the east of us. Heavy at time and when it finally did stop raining I had about 9/10 of an inch in my rain gauge. Not bad at all and should go a long way towards bringing the lawn back. Was getting to look a little wilted. So hopefully the next rain won't wait so long. And got to look at the 10 day forecast for more rain. Tuesday's higher chance seems to have disappeared but still a decent change on Thursday and I suspect we will get more of the afternoon type thundershowers too. Gary said they lost power. The are quite a bit north and somewhat east of me.
Now to look at what is happening in the gulf of Mexico. Marco who was the big worry for us now looks like it is going to come ashore much further to the east. It did shift slightly back to the west tonight. We aren't really in the cone of uncertainty. By tomorrow afternoon we should know just about where it is going to go. Laura is still a few days out and looks like it is going to follow Marco. Plenty of excitement for a while. Nothing else showing on the National Hurricane Center's map. It does look like Laura is going to be at least partially covered by the Saharan dust cloud. Should be dryer air.
I have an HEB delivery scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully now that Marco has decided to go elsewhere the store shelves haven't been cleaned out yet and I should get most of what I ordered. I guess we will see. Just have to wait.
Gold and crude didn't trade today so nothing to report there. Today was an eBay day and an outside merchant delivery too. Still have more items to come from eBay. Always seems to be that way. So tempting on eBay to just make impulse buys. Sometimes I can resist but other times I just give in. Just the fact that almost anything is available on eBay without really having to look.
So today was a bit of a surprise. I had Fozzy as a lap cat visit me much earlier than he usually does. Twist hasn't been in a day or so. I did burn incense today but now I am not sure at all what it was. Does happen from time to time.
Today's junk call was from something like Apple Security to tell my my Icard had been breached. I don't know if there is such a thing. I don't have anything Apple. I was suppose to call or press something to fix it. Just the one today. And no political surveys in an amazingly long time.
Did a little bit of work cleaning the kitchen. Mostly just putting dishes in the dishwasher. Not much else in the way of house work. Did reload the batteries on one of my fun projects and started recharging the other ones. Not much else in the way of projects. I did start the truck today and let it run for awhile. I think I will start making that a daily chore for me. Just to keep it operational and the battery charged. Really thinking about getting it washed and waxed just because. Not really any reason. Just really kind of needs it.
Not much in the way of viewing pleasure outside of YouTube today. No Lucifer today or PBS documentaries. Did watch just a brief bit of golf. I think it was a replay though.
Gary text a lot today. Weather, Marco and Laura. He is an amateur weather forecaster. No Ashley text.
Still on the lookout for platinum coins. The one dealer I always check had one available last night but now even that is gone. Must be a lot of demand for platinum coins. Nobody except for a few eBay dealers seem to have them in stock.
Seemed pretty quiet outside. I did hear the chirping while I was eating dinner but just sounded like an single individual. The cicadas were really loud earlier but don't seem to be active after the sun goes down. The moon is just a sliver tonight. Next full moon is September 2nd. Must remind Ashley so she can recharge her crystals.
I don't know if there will be another update to the spaghetti models but I will check before going to bed. The National Hurricane Center's map always seems to be pretty much in line with the spaghetti models.
I think that is going to do it for tonight.
